Helping to bring history up to date.
|
What is C.H.A.R.T.? CHART is a small team of individuals who share a common interest in our history. Like archaeologists we research, recover and record details of items that have previously been lost or hidden, with the help of landowners, we use the opportunity to chart the history of a particular locality. How is it done? Through the hobby of metal detecting and with the use of the up to date technology we are able to locate and recover artefacts and coins that have been lost and this helps to show how the land may have been used in the past by our ancestors. How they may have lived, worked, traded, communicated and died.

Have you ever seen the lone figure or sometimes a group of people walking across a field or on the beach, swinging a metal detector. Have you wondered what they are doing and why? Well so have I and I am one of them! Why do we do it? Many reasons are given for spending hard earned money buying expensive sensitive electronic equipment in the hope of finding what! Well each of us could give a different reason but it all boils down to one thing treasure hunting!!! or so others would have you believe.
This is not always the case and quite often we never recover the initial cost of our equipment. So why do we do it. On the left is a link to our member's pages, individual pages where member's are allowed to express their personal opinions. Not all member's have chosen to do one so you may only see a small representation of the team members are and why they do it.
